Our garden is officially ready for the summer and when better to start enjoying it than over a May bank holiday weekend.  There are benches to the front of the pub and a peaceful and secluded raised garden to the side of the pub. 

We also have the Garden Room with a retractable roof to reveal a real sun-trap patio for alfresco dining.  This can be booked for private events for up to 24 people seated and up to 40 buffet style (no hire charge) or you can enjoy a relaxed meal outside with your friends and family. 

Visit us to enjoy our specials including a Twice Baked Cheese Soufflé and local asparagus from Groombridge served with Hollandaise or butter.

Raspberry Pavlova

May is the month for lots of delicious British produce including the much-loved strawberries and raspberries. Chef Simon has created a Raspberry Pavlova recipe, which we hope you will all enjoy trying out at home:

Method
Separate the eggs and firmly whisk to a hard peek
Whilst still whisking add the sieved sugar in three parts the last part fold in by hand and add the drops of vinegar. Spoon on to trays which are lined with baking paper and then lightly sprinkle with sugar. Place in hot plate or oven at 70 degrees for 8 hours or until hard on the outside and soft in the middle. Spread with cream and top with fresh raspberries and dust with icing sugar.

Ingredients
8oz egg whites
16oz caster sugar
Few drops of raspberry vinegar
1pint whipped double cream
2 punnet of raspberries
